Kody's Story

  My name is Kody and Team Able is the change that I want to see in the world.

  I did not have a traditional upbringing.  I was an only child for the first half of my childhood.  My family was spread across different states, and I spent a lot of time in the car.  My environment was the perfect education for me to learn and experience so many sides to the human experience. 

​

  I loved school so much.  The tests were mandatory, but the people around me were why I thrived.  I understood that this microcosm was the perfect trial ground for me to find out who I was, through the various cliques, clubs and people.  I committed and did everything I could.

​

  My 20’s were all about working, partying, traveling and living my best life.  I left home for a two-year road trip in my later 20’s.  Things were getting harder, and I was drinking every day.  I was struggling with excepting myself and coming out as gay.  Alcohol gave me the courage to come out, but it took time off my life in return.

​

  After my long road trip, I came home and found massage therapy school.  I became a massage therapist and started to feel fulfilled on my life’s purpose.  While I was working at a spa, a coworker of mine set me up with her friend.  Fast forward to now Brent and I are married and sober.

​

  I have been blessed by the diversity of people in my life.  All the people that I have talked to have taught me directly or indirectly.  I have learned that everyone can be a teacher and that life lessons can be the hardest lessons we learn.  We are social beings and are capable of bigger and better things together.  Lastly, we all want to have a community and feel a part of something bigger than ourselves.

  The Team that I have assembled to be the foundation of Team Able; all have a few things in common.  We are all empathetic, hardworking people who love to laugh, and want to make change for the positive.
